GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Therapy Fort Worth

Medical Weight Loss in Fort Worth, Built Around Your Data

Highland Longevity provides physician-led medical weight-loss care in Fort Worth. Treatment may include medication when clinically appropriate, plus DEXA body-composition monitoring, metabolic testing, nutrition support, and follow-up. DEXA estimates fat mass and lean mass so the plan can be reassessed over time; it cannot guarantee muscle preservation or prevent weight regain.

What We Measure Over Time

Follow-up focuses on treatment response, safety, and body-composition trends rather than a promised outcome.

Body Weight and Waist

Longitudinal trends interpreted in clinical context.

DEXA Estimates

Estimated fat mass and lean mass; DEXA does not measure muscle directly.

Response and Tolerability

Symptoms, adverse effects, and medication tolerance.

Nutrition and Activity

Nutrition, resistance training, and activity reviewed over time.

Clinical Markers

Blood pressure and clinically indicated laboratory markers.

The Science of GLP-1 Therapy

How GLP-1 receptor activity, product-specific evidence, risks, and monitoring inform treatment decisions.

More Than Just "Calories In, Calories Out"

Obesity is a chronic disease influenced by biology, medications, sleep, environment, activity, nutrition, and other health conditions—not willpower alone.

GLP-1 is involved in appetite, gastric emptying, and glucose regulation. Medication effects, adverse effects, and suitability vary by product and patient.

Because of this dual action on appetite and blood sugar, the GLP-1 medication class was originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes—and it improves blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity in addition to supporting weight loss.

GLP-1 receptor agonist effects may include:

  • ✓ Slowing Gastric Emptying: Oral-medication absorption and tolerability may be affected.
  • ✓ Quieting "Food Appetite: Appetite response varies and is reviewed over time.
  • ✓ Regulating Blood Sugar: Clinically indicated glucose markers are monitored when relevant.

How to Read GLP-1 Trial Evidence

Results from FDA-approved products provide general evidence but do not establish results for compounded formulations or predict an individual outcome.

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. A compounded medication may be considered only when an FDA-approved drug cannot meet a documented patient-specific clinical need and applicable prescribing and compounding requirements are met. We discuss FDA-approved alternatives, product source, dosing, storage, risks, and limitations before treatment.

Product-Specific Evidence depends on the studied product, dose, population, and duration
Individual Response Benefits, adverse effects, and treatment duration vary by patient
Compounded Products Not FDA-approved or reviewed for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing

Medication may be considered as one part of chronic weight management after review of medical history, contraindications, expected benefits, risks, limitations, and alternatives.

Compounded GLP-1 Receptor Agonist

Compounded Semaglutide

Semaglutide acts at the GLP-1 receptor. We discuss FDA-approved options first when appropriate. A compounded formulation may be considered only when an FDA-approved drug cannot meet a documented patient-specific clinical need and applicable prescribing and compounding requirements are met. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about medical weight loss at Highland Longevity.

Weight-loss outcomes vary by medication, dose, duration, adherence, health conditions, and patient. Trials of FDA-approved semaglutide and tirzepatide products do not establish the safety, effectiveness, quality, or expected results of a compounded formulation. Your physician will discuss reasonable expectations for the specific treatment being considered; no amount or timeline is guaranteed.

Semaglutide acts at the GLP-1 receptor; tirzepatide acts at the GIP and GLP-1 receptors. A head-to-head trial of FDA-approved products found a greater average reduction in body weight with tirzepatide at 72 weeks in adults with obesity but without diabetes. That trial did not evaluate Highland's compounded formulations and should not be used to predict an individual result. Choice depends on medical history, contraindications, tolerability, access, risks, and goals.

Weight loss can include both fat mass and lean mass. DEXA estimates changes in each so nutrition, resistance training, medication, and follow-up can be adjusted. DEXA measures lean mass rather than muscle directly and cannot ensure that all weight lost is fat.

The GLP-1 medication class was originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, and these medications improve blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity in addition to supporting weight loss. Many of our weight-management patients also have type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or insulin resistance. If that describes you, your Highland Longevity physician will review your full health history—including any current diabetes medications—and coordinate care so your plan is safe and appropriate. Highland Longevity prescribes compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, which are not FDA-approved. This information is educational and is not a substitute for individualized medical advice.

Highland Longevity combines physician-led obesity-medicine care, in-house DEXA and resting metabolic rate testing, nutrition support, and longitudinal follow-up that tracks safety, treatment response, fat mass, and lean mass—not scale weight alone.

Diagnostic package: $499
Includes comprehensive labs, one DEXA scan, and provider review. RMR testing, medication, separately ordered labs, and standalone diagnostic packages are not included in medication-program prices.

Compounded semaglutide starts at $199/month; standard dosing is $299–$399/month. Compounded tirzepatide microdose protocols start at $199/month; initial therapeutic-dose protocols start at $399/month. Exact treatment and price depend on the clinically appropriate plan.
