Testing + Treatment, Under One Roof
Most clinics do one or the other. A scan shop hands you a stack of numbers with no plan. A hormone or weight-loss clinic treats without ever measuring your baseline. Highland Longevity does both — and uses the data to drive every decision. We test what we treat, interpret the results, build your plan, and re-test to prove it's working.

The Gap Most Clinics Leave
If you've tried to take charge of your health, you've probably run into one of two dead ends. The first is the scan shop: pay for a DEXA or a body-composition reading, get a printout, and walk out with numbers but no medical plan and no physician to tell you what they mean. The second is the treatment-only clinic: start hormones or a weight-loss medication without ever establishing a baseline — so no one really knows where you started or whether it's working.
Both leave a gap. Data without a plan is just trivia. Treatment without data is guesswork. Highland Longevity was built to close that gap by keeping diagnostics and physician-led treatment in the same place, used together.
That's the difference: DEXA, VO₂max, RMR, and comprehensive labs aren't the product — they're the foundation for a plan we then track over time.

The Highland Model: Test, Interpret, Treat, Re-Test
A closed loop that keeps your care grounded in data — from your first visit through every follow-up.
Test
Establish a clinically appropriate baseline using selected laboratory and physiologic measurements, recognizing the limits of each test.
Interpret
Your provider reviews your results with you in plain language — what's normal, what's not, and what actually matters for your goals.
Treat
When treatment is warranted, we build a personalized, physician-supervised plan — and only when the data and your symptoms support it.
Re-Test
We re-measure on a defined schedule, so progress is proven with objective data — not estimated from how you think you feel.
How Highland Measures Each Program
The right data depends on the patient and the clinical question. These are the core measurement systems that connect each program to objective follow-up.
TRT & Men's Hormone Care
Hormone, metabolic, and safety markers are interpreted alongside symptoms, health history, and fertility goals, then followed over time.

Hormone, thyroid, metabolic, and blood-health markers are considered with symptoms, life stage, risk factors, and treatment response.

DEXA body composition, RMR, comprehensive labs, symptoms, and nutrition data help distinguish weight change from meaningful metabolic progress.

Labs, DEXA, VO₂max, RMR, and clinical history are selected when appropriate, then reviewed as trends rather than isolated snapshots.

The Diagnostics Behind Every Plan
Three measurements most clinics don't offer together — the data that makes a plan precise and progress measurable.
DEXA Scan
Medical-grade imaging of lean mass, fat (including visceral fat), and bone density — far beyond what a scale or hand-held device can tell you.
- Lean mass & muscle tracking
- Visceral fat quantification
- Bone density screening
VO₂max Testing
A direct measure of how efficiently your body uses oxygen — one of the strongest single predictors of long-term health.
- Gold-standard fitness measure
- Cardiovascular health insight
- Trainable, trackable marker
RMR Testing
Resting metabolic rate shows how many calories your body burns at rest, so nutrition and metabolic plans fit your physiology — not a formula.
- Your actual calorie needs
- Metabolic-rate trends
- Smarter nutrition targets
What This Means for You
An integrated model isn't just tidier — it produces better, safer, more accountable care.
Decisions Based on Data
Your plan starts from objective measurements, not assumptions — so it's built for your physiology, not an average.
Progress You Can See
Re-testing turns "I think it's working" into measurable change you can track over time.
Treatment Only When Warranted
Baseline data protects you from unnecessary treatment by confirming there's a real clinical reason for it.
One Team, One Record
Testing and treatment in one place means your physician sees the whole picture — and your care stays coordinated.
Testing + Treatment FAQ
Common questions about how Highland Longevity combines diagnostics and physician-led treatment.
What's the difference between a scan-only shop and Highland Longevity?
A scan-only shop hands you body-composition numbers but no medical plan and no physician to interpret them. Highland uses DEXA, VO₂max, and RMR as the starting point for physician-led care — we interpret the data, build a treatment plan when one is warranted, and re-test to confirm it's working. The diagnostics are a means to a plan, not the end.
Why does testing matter before treatment?
Treating without a baseline is guessing. Objective data — body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, metabolic rate, and comprehensive labs — tells us what's actually going on, whether treatment is appropriate, and later, whether it's working. It also protects you from unnecessary treatment by confirming there's a real clinical reason for it.
What diagnostics do you offer that other clinics don't?
DEXA body composition and bone-density scanning, VO₂max cardiorespiratory-fitness testing, and resting metabolic rate (RMR) testing — alongside comprehensive lab panels. Few clinics offer all of these in one place and use them together to drive and track a treatment plan.
Can I get a DEXA scan or testing without starting treatment?
Yes. You're welcome to use our diagnostics on their own. The added value is that a physician can interpret the results in context and, if you choose, fold them into a plan — and re-test later to measure change. Testing and treatment are evaluated independently and you're never obligated to start treatment.
Do you offer this approach for both weight loss and hormones?
Yes. The same test–interpret–treat–re-test model underpins our medical weight-loss, hormone optimization, and men's and women's longevity programs. Diagnostics like DEXA and RMR inform weight-loss plans (including muscle preservation), while comprehensive labs guide hormone care — all physician-supervised.
Do I have to do every test?
No. Which diagnostics make sense depends on your goals and history, and we'll discuss that at your consultation. The point isn't to run every test — it's to gather the right data so your plan is based on facts rather than assumptions.
